Account scoring

Account scoring for HubSpot

Companies in your HubSpot scored against the deals you win, where there is enough data, and ranked with the reason.

Account scoring gives companies a score for how well they fit, so you can prioritise the ones that deserve attention first. Telepath scores the companies in your HubSpot where there is enough data, by how closely each resembles the customers you have already won, and shows the reason for each score.

Most account lists are ordered by a guess about who is a good fit, or by who made the most noise. Telepath starts from evidence instead: the ideal customer profile it works out from your own won deals. Each company with enough data is then compared with that profile, so the list answers one question: which of these look most like the customers we win?

What you see

Companies ranked by fit

Each company synced from HubSpot with enough data gets a fit score from 0 to 100, and the list is ordered by it. Unassigned companies come first, then those with no open deal, then those with an open deal, then customers.

The reason beside each one

Every row shows the industry, company size and country the company shares with your won deals, so you can check the ranking against what you know.

Blanks stay blank

If a company has too few facts in HubSpot, or your won deals show no pattern beyond chance, Telepath says so and names what is missing. It never fills the gap with a guess.

How the ranking works

  1. Learn from your wins. Telepath takes the companies behind your closed-won deals and looks at their industry, size and country.
  2. Find what stands out. A value counts as a pattern only when it appears in at least five of your wins and stands out beyond chance compared with the rest of your companies.
  3. Score your companies. Each company in your HubSpot with enough data is scored on how many of those patterns it shares. The scoring is done in code, not by a language model, and the same inputs always give the same score.
  4. Work the list. Open the Company fit list in Telepath, start at the top, and use the reason beside each company to decide who to look at first.

The profile behind the ranking is the same one described on what ICP intelligence is and in ideal customer profile software. To see the pattern in your own deals first, start with the free ICP report. Plans are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

What is account scoring?

Giving companies a score so you know which to prioritise first. Telepath does it by scoring the companies synced from your HubSpot, where there is enough data, on how closely each resembles the customers you have already won, and showing the reason for each score.

What is a fit score?

A number from 0 to 100 for how well a company fits your ideal customer profile. Telepath works it out in code from the industry, company size and country the company shares with the patterns in your won deals. The same inputs always give the same fit score.

How does Telepath score my HubSpot companies?

It looks at three facts about each company: industry, company size and country. It compares them with the companies behind your won deals, finds the values that stand out beyond chance, and scores each company from 0 to 100 on how many of those it shares.

What if a company cannot be ranked?

Telepath says so and names the reason, such as a company missing two of its three facts (for example no industry and no size in HubSpot), or fewer than 10 won deals linked to a company. It does not guess. These companies are listed separately, so nothing disappears from the list.

Do I see why a company ranks where it does?

Yes. Each company shows the industry, size and country it shares with your wins, so the ranking can be checked against what you know about the account.

Does it change anything in HubSpot?

No. Ranking changes nothing in HubSpot: Telepath reads your companies and shows the Company fit list in the app. Telepath only ever writes its own telepath_ fields and never deletes anything in your CRM. Each row links to the company record in HubSpot, and the list can be downloaded as a CSV.

How is this different from lead scoring?

Lead scoring usually adds points for engagement against rules someone wrote. Account scoring here is about fit: how much a company looks like the customers you win, learned from your own won deals.
